Contend

We have a legal right to contend in prayer, in the Most Holy Place, which is the very Throne Room of God. We have a legal right to contend in prayer with the blood and body of Jesus against sickness, disease, and all the power of the enemy.

The Blood and Broken Body of Jesus presented at the Mercy Seat of God provided our eternally fixed, legal position and it is from this legal position, where we are now represented in the Counsel of God, that we contend in prayer for our bodily healing.

Hebrews 10:19-20 (NLT) 19 And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven's Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. 20 By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place.

Jesus told the Samaritan woman that healing was the children’s bread and it's not right to give it to the little dogs.  Her response caused Jesus to marvel at her faith. (Matthew 15:22-28) The true children are those who come believing in faith. Being of Jewish descent does not automatically qualify you for salvation. Yet, Jesus had a mission from the Father to fulfill the words of the prophets and to present the Kingdom to the Jewish people first. However their rejection has become the blessing of the entire Gentile world. (How much more will their belief in Jesus as Messiah bless the world? Romans 11:12-15)

The main point I would like to make about Matthew 15:22-28 is that Jesus called healing the “children’s bread”. Bread is supposed to be a common staple in a life sustaining economy. It keeps you alive, yet is supposed to be common. Healing is supposed to be common, it isn’t supposed to be extraordinary in the Kingdom of God among believers. Healing is our God given right, through the blood and broken body of Jesus Christ.

Look at Isaiah 53:5 from the NLT with me. It says, “But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.”

He was beaten for our peace, or so we could be whole, and He was whipped so we could healed. If this is true then the penalty for our wholeness or our peace, and the penalty for our healing has already been paid for. So why are we not walking around in divine healing since it’s already been paid for? One reason is because we are too often removed from our position of contending in prayer. We usually become distracted or we just give up before we see the breakthrough manifest in our physical bodies.

Be encouraged today. Do not give up! Healing is your right, earned by Christ’s broken body and His blood that was presented in heaven on your behalf to the Father, at the Mercy Seat.

Be encouraged in your contending in prayer and do not back down from what is legally yours. Jesus Christ is representing you in the courts of Heaven and He wants us all walking in Divine healing. Contend for it, because it is already yours in Jesus’ Name!
